Best CRM for Startups 2026

The best startup CRM depends on how you sell. Attio fits founder-led sales, Pipedrive fits a small deal-driven team, HubSpot fits sales plus marketing, Zoho CRM is cheapest per seat, and Close fits outbound calling. Three are free for 2–3 users. Here is what a 3-person team pays in November 2026.

Key Takeaways

  • There is no single best CRM. Pick on how you sell: founder-led, a small sales team, sales plus marketing, or outbound calling.
  • Attio and Zoho CRM are free for 3 users; HubSpot is free for 2. Pipedrive and Close have trials only.
  • For three people on yearly billing, entry plans run from $0 (Attio, Zoho) to $105 (Attio Plus, Close Essentials).
  • HubSpot Professional adds a one-time $1,500 onboarding fee on top of $90 per seat.
  • Close is the one built around calling; its dialers start on Growth ($99 per seat yearly).
  • All five charge per seat, so the bill grows with every rep you hire.

Which kind of CRM does your startup need?

Every CRM stores contacts and deals. What differs is the selling motion each one is built around, so start with how your startup actually wins customers.

Founder-led sales

The founder sells through their network, investors and early users. Attio builds records from your inbox and calendar automatically, so nothing needs typing in.

A small sales team

Two to ten reps working deals through clear stages. Pipedrive and Zoho CRM are built around the pipeline and cost the least per seat.

Sales and marketing together

Inbound leads from content, forms and email campaigns handed to sales. HubSpot keeps both on one platform and one contact record.

Outbound calling

Reps make dozens of calls and emails a day. Close puts the dialer, SMS and email inside the CRM, so activity logs itself.

HubSpot: best for sales and marketing on one platform

HubSpot’s free CRM is where many startups begin: contacts, deals, a meeting link and email templates, free for up to 2 users. Its strength is breadth. The same records feed Marketing Hub, Service Hub and the content tools, and the app marketplace is one of the largest of any CRM.

Sales Hub Starter lists at $20 per seat a month; on November 2, 2026 HubSpot was showing $7 per seat on yearly billing as a new-customer discount. Starter includes sequences, up to 50 workflows, forecasting and 500 calling minutes. Professional is $90 per seat billed yearly or $100 monthly, with up to 300 workflows and 3,000 calling minutes, and needs a one-time $1,500 onboarding fee. Enterprise is $150 per seat plus $3,500 onboarding.

Best for: Startups that want CRM, marketing email and service on one platform as they grow. Skip if: you only need a sales pipeline and want to keep per-seat costs low past Starter.

Pipedrive: best for a simple deal pipeline

Pipedrive opens on a board of deals by stage, and most of the product is about moving those deals forward: activity reminders, email sync and a mobile app reps actually use. In 2026 it reorganised its plans into four tiers: Lite, Growth, Premium and Ultimate.

Third-party captures put Lite at $14 per seat a month billed yearly (about $24 monthly), Growth at $39 ($49), Premium at $59 ($79) and Ultimate at $79 ($99). Automations start on Growth. There is no free plan, only a 14-day trial, and add-ons such as Campaigns and Web Visitors are billed separately. Pipedrive’s pricing page loads prices in the browser and varies by region, so check yours at checkout.

Best for: Small B2B sales teams with a clear process who want a CRM they will open every day. Skip if: you want a free plan, or marketing automation alongside sales, where HubSpot or Zoho fit better.

Attio: best for founder-led sales and custom data

Attio connects to your email and calendar and builds records from them automatically, so a founder doing sales does not have to type in contacts. Its data model is flexible: you can add your own objects, such as investors, partners or workspaces from your product, next to people, companies and deals.

Free covers 3 seats, 3 objects and 50,000 records. Plus is $35 per seat a month billed yearly ($44 monthly) for up to 10 seats and 5 objects. Pro is $79 ($99 monthly) with unlimited seats, 12 objects, sequences and call intelligence. Every plan includes seat and workspace credits that AI features and automations draw on; extra packs start at 5,000 credits for $85 a month.

Best for: Founder-led and product-led startups, and teams tracking more than just deals. Skip if: you need a built-in dialer or a classic, opinionated sales process from day one.

Zoho CRM: best for the lowest price per seat

Zoho CRM packs a lot into its lower tiers. The free edition covers 3 users and already includes workflow automation, and Standard adds forecasting, cadences and AI agents. It also connects to the rest of the Zoho suite, including Books, Desk and Campaigns, which matters if you want one vendor for back office and sales.

Zoho’s pricing page shows prices in local currency in the browser, so these US figures are third-party captures: Standard about $14 per user a month billed yearly ($20 monthly), Professional about $23 ($35), Enterprise about $40 ($50) and Ultimate about $52 ($65). The full Zia AI sales assistant arrives on Enterprise.

Best for: Cost-conscious startups that want automation now and may use other Zoho apps. Skip if: your team values a fast, simple interface over depth, where Pipedrive or Attio are quicker to adopt.

Close: best for outbound calling and email

Close is built for teams that spend the day on the phone and in the inbox. Calling, SMS and email live inside the CRM rather than in a separate tool, and every plan includes Chloe, Close’s AI assistant. Calls are billed by usage, around $0.02 a minute for most outbound calls, with numbers from about $1 a month.

Solo is $9 a month billed yearly ($19 monthly) for a single user and 10,000 leads. Essentials is $35 per seat billed yearly ($49 monthly) with unlimited leads. Growth, at $99 ($109), adds the power dialer, workflows and bulk email; Scale, at $139 ($149), adds a predictive dialer and unlimited call recording. Close offers a 14-day trial with $5 of calling credit.

Best for: Inside-sales and outbound teams making dozens of calls a day. Skip if: you sell mainly through inbound or a founder’s network, where Attio or HubSpot cost less per seat.

When should you move from a spreadsheet to a CRM?

A spreadsheet works while one person sells and every deal fits on one screen. It stops working when a second person starts selling and nobody knows who last spoke to a customer, when follow-ups slip because there is no reminder, or when you cannot say how much is in the pipeline without an afternoon of tidying.

The switch costs less than it used to. Attio, Zoho CRM and HubSpot are free for two or three people and import a CSV in minutes, and Attio and HubSpot log emails and meetings for you. Do not buy for the team you might have in two years: pick the plan that fits today, and check the per-seat price at the size you expect to reach next.

How We Compared These CRMs

We read each vendor's pricing page on November 2, 2026. HubSpot, Attio and Close publish their prices in the page. Pipedrive and Zoho CRM calculate prices in the browser by region, so for those we used third-party captures from 2026 and link them below. HubSpot's page does not label which Starter price is monthly and which is yearly; we used a pricing calculator checked on October 22, 2026 to confirm it.

We do not give these CRMs a score out of 10. A founder selling alone, a five-person sales team and an outbound call floor need different things, so a single ranking would reward whichever team we had in mind. Each CRM gets a "best for" and a caveat instead. We have no affiliate relationship with any of the five.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best CRM for startups in 2026?

It depends on how you sell. Attio suits founder-led sales and is free for up to 3 seats. Pipedrive suits small teams working a deal pipeline, from $14 per seat billed yearly. HubSpot suits startups that want sales and marketing on one platform, with a free plan for 2 users. Zoho CRM has the lowest per-seat price with automation, from $14 billed yearly. Close suits outbound teams that call and email all day, from $35 per seat billed yearly.

What is the best free CRM for a startup?

Attio and Zoho CRM are both free for up to 3 users; Attio’s free plan holds 50,000 records and 3 objects. HubSpot’s free plan covers up to 2 users. Pipedrive and Close have no free plan, only 14-day trials. For a founder and one or two early hires, any of the three free plans is enough to start.

How much does a CRM cost for a 3-person sales team?

On yearly billing: $0 on Attio’s or Zoho CRM’s free plan; about $42 a month on Zoho Standard or Pipedrive Lite; $21 on HubSpot Starter at its current yearly promotion ($60 on monthly billing); $105 on Attio Plus or Close Essentials; $117 on Pipedrive Growth; and $270 on HubSpot Professional plus a one-time $1,500 onboarding fee.

HubSpot vs Pipedrive: which is better for a startup?

Pipedrive is a focused sales pipeline tool: cheaper per seat, quick to set up, with automations from Growth ($39 per seat yearly). HubSpot is a wider platform: its free CRM and Starter plan connect to marketing, service and content tools, but Professional costs $90–$100 per seat plus a $1,500 onboarding fee. Pick Pipedrive if sales is the only job; pick HubSpot if you want marketing and sales in one place.

Attio vs HubSpot: which should a startup choose?

Attio is built around a flexible data model: you define your own objects, it syncs email and calendar automatically, and it is free for 3 seats. HubSpot has more built-in sales and marketing features and a larger app marketplace. Attio suits product-led and founder-led startups that want to shape the CRM to their data; HubSpot suits teams that want a standard sales and marketing setup.

When should a startup move from a spreadsheet to a CRM?

Usually when more than one person sells, when you lose track of follow-ups, or when you have more than a few dozen open deals. A CRM logs emails and meetings automatically, reminds you of follow-ups and shows the pipeline at a glance. With free plans from Attio, Zoho CRM and HubSpot, cost is rarely the reason to wait.

Which CRM is best for cold calling and outbound?

Close is built for this: calling, SMS and email sit inside the CRM, and Growth adds a power dialer while Scale adds a predictive dialer. Calls are billed by usage, about $0.02 a minute for most outbound calls. HubSpot includes calling minutes on paid plans (500 on Starter). For cold email at volume, pair any CRM with a dedicated sending tool.

Does HubSpot charge an onboarding fee?

Yes, on the higher plans. Sales Hub Professional requires a one-time $1,500 onboarding fee and Enterprise $3,500. The free plan and Starter have no onboarding fee. HubSpot says its discounts on Starter apply to new customers only.
