Disposable encrypted chat rooms with no account and single-use invites
elm.chat is a free, open-source ephemeral messenger for short-lived conversations between people who already know one another. Create a room in the browser, share a single-use invite, exchange encrypted messages or files, and destroy the room when the conversation ends. The relay is designed not to retain a server-side message transcript. The AGPL source, threat model, security status, reproducible architecture, and one-click Cloudflare self-host path are public. Early-stage limitations: elm.chat has not had an independent security audit; message authentication and replay/duplicate protection are unfinished; the Cloudflare relay can observe network metadata; and endpoints can retain copies. It is not positioned for anonymity, high-risk use, regulated data, or production finance.
Free and open source (AGPL-3.0); self-hosting available
