Zep stores what agents learn as a temporal knowledge graph, so it knows not just a fact but when it became true and when it stopped being true. Its open-source engine, Graphiti (Apache-2.0, about 32K stars), can be self-hosted on Neo4j, FalkorDB or Neptune; Zep Cloud adds managed users and threads, proprietary extraction and reranking models, a dashboard and governance. Zep Community Edition is deprecated, so self-hosting now means building on Graphiti. Pricing is credit-based (one credit per 350-byte episode; retrieval is free): Free 10K credits a month, Flex $125/month (50K credits), Flex Plus $375/month (200K credits), Enterprise custom with SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA and VPC deployment.
